'Let food be your medicine and let medicine be your food.' Hippocrates AD 390

Today we are becoming more and more aware of the truth of that statement. Scientists and researchers are discovering how good nutrition can be both preventative and curative. With all the media hype and conflicting information we are bombarded with though it is important to find out just what IS best for us.

However, each of us is unique and therefore nutrition must be tailored to our individual needs. Our genes and our lifestyles are contributing factors to our health and to how well we absorb what we eat and nutritional therapy can help to optimise nutritional intake according to specific individual needs. We can improve ability both physically and mentally by enhancing absorption of the nutrients needed. Even emotional problems can be helped.

Approaching health differently from your GP, we can help treat causes of disease rather than just treating symptoms. A nutritionist or nutritional therapist is also different from a dietician. Registered dieticians work mostly with the NHS and give dietary advice, but the principles of optimum nutrition are the domain of the nutritional therapist! The dietician will  support treatment by a medical practitioner whereas a nutritional therapist will offer nutrition as a therapy in itself. The dietician will not undertake such a comprehensive client analyses, which means the advice they give cannot be so in-depth and individually taylored as the treatment protocols offered by nutritional therapists.

As a nutritional therapist I am able to analyse your symptoms and lifestyle so that I can give you explanations for your health problems  together with recommendations that will deal with their causes and thus enable you to embark on a very specialised programme to help improve both your health and well-being.

Also, in my practice, I strive to keep up to date with all the latest studies and research, so that I can offer the best possible treatment.
